  • Catherine Ellefson | Senior VP at Arnold Worldwide, Ms. Ellefson managed the hugely succesful launch of Newman's Own Green Mountain Coffee with McDonald's. She presented the entire plan from start to  finish on January 30.
  • Lydia Langford, Admissions Director at Miami Ad School visited AdClub on November 18 to talk about Product Placement and other trends in advertising. Lydia Langford is a graduate of the Miami Ad School and has spent several years in advertising in a variety of roles, including client, account executive, account planner, and award-winning copywriter. She has worked for some of the industry's most exiting agencies (Wieden + Kennedy, Modernista, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, JWT and Lloyd + Company) and clients (Reebok, Nike, Gucci, HUMMER, Borders, Victoria's Secret, ESPN and Burger King). Originally from Wellesley, Mass., she graduated from Bates College in Maine with a bachelor's degree in classical history.
  • Tony Cotrupi | The fantastically intriguing Tony Cotrupi, Branding Director at PARTNERS+Simons and also a COM grad, shared his experiences with the world of advertising.
  • Jessica Tugender | Marketing Associate, Digitas: A COM '03 graduate, Ms. Tugender came in to offer advice to members on how to move right into a good job after graduation.
  • Prof. John Verret | Associate Professor of Advertising at COM: Professor Verret has held the positions of Vice Chairman, President CEO, and Executive Vice President COO, for Arnold Communications. Adweek Magazine named Verret Executive of the Year in 1990. In 1996 Verret founded Verret & Associates, a firm that specializes in teaching communications skills to executives. He is active in civic and community affairs, and is a past president of The Ad Club and the New England Broadcasting Association. He is one of AdClub's advisors, and frequently engages members with stories of the industry, advice on classes, and the occasional Irish pub song.
  • Prof. Tobe Berkovitz| Associate Dean of COM: Dr. Berkovitz has worked since 1974 as a political media consultant on presidential, senatorial, congressional, and gubernatorial election campaigns. He specializes in media strategy and time buying, and works as a producer of political commercials. Berkovitz's clients have included Senators John Glenn, Carl Levin, and Patrick Leahy, and Congressman John Tierney. Dr. Berkovitz appears frequently on television and in the press as a political and media analyst. As one of AdClub's advisors, Prof. Berkovitz regularly entertains students with exclusive video screenings, advertising games, and little sketches of dogs on the whiteboard.
  • Joyce Rogers | Director of the Career Services Center at COM: Ms. Rogers knows exactly what it takes to get a good job. At a special meeting for AdClub members, she went over the best way to write a resume, what a cover letter should contain, and what not to say in an interview.
  • Richard Earle | Former Executive VP, Saatchi & Saatchi: Creator of the iconic "Crying Indian" public service campaign, Mr. Earle has had a 35 year career in the advertising industry. He directed campaigns for clients such as Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and Revlon. Mr. Earle's work has won the Golden Lion at Cannes, and over 50 other industry awards. At a special AdClub event, Mr. Earle spoke about ethics in advertising, and described how he and his team dealt with such brand disasters as the Tylenol tampering incident in 1982.
  • Prof. Joyce Macario | Assistant Professor of Communication at COM: Prof. Macario has had years of design experience. Her clients have included Bayer, Houghton-Mifflin, L.L. Bean and more. She spoke to members last year about the elements of design.
  • Prof. Tom Fauls | Associate Professor of Advertising at COM: Prof. Fauls has been creative director and executive creative director at ad agencies such as Leo Burnett, J. Walter Thompson, and Foote Cone & Belding. He spoke to AdClub members this past semester about the changing landscape of advertising, and new media.
  • Prof. Christopher Cakebread | Assistant Professor of Advertising at COM: Prof. Cakebread directs COM's internship program, and has an academic interest in many areas of advertising including corporate sponsorships and the influence of internships on ad agencies. He speaks regularly to AdClub members about the right classes to take in COM. He teaches courses in ad management at COM.
